Our team was established in 2007 at Carmel High School by Paul McFarlin and Tom Clifford as a club with just a small group of students. Since its start, the team has grown and currently has more than 30 participating students.
Our team participates in the annual FRC competitions to showcase our work and robot. The team members enjoy learning real life useful applications such as programming, wiring, designing, and engineering. Our focus has expanded beyond science as well: we now have students working on business, project management, communications, art, and team spirit.
Our team has recently created a handbook outlining how our team operates. Click the link below to view it.

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a global nonprofit organization that was founded in 1989 by Dean Kamen, an American inventor and engineer, to provide encouragement for students to go into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
FIRST is made up of different programs for a variety of age groups which include FIRST Lego League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC), and FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC). These programs not only focus on STEM, but also teach kids Gracious Professionalism (GP) and Coopertition through the FIRST Core Values. Their biggest program is FRC, which our team, The Rockin’ Bots, is a part of; it is a program for high school students to design, program, and build industrial-sized robots to compete in competitions that combine the challenges of STEM with the excitement of a sport. If you would like to learn more about FIRST and FRC, please go to firstinspires.org.
